In 2023, he expanded his sound by teaming up with a band of local musicians, creating a more dynamic, collaborative live experience. Together, they’re developing a sound that highlights both his roots in bedroom production and his evolution as a live performer—soulful, experimental, and unmistakably authentic.
Yellow Velvet is a group of friends with a blended background of jazz, classical, and choral training who have been making music in the DMV for going on three years. They play indie jazz with intricate time signatures, lush harmonies, and charming doo-wop sensibilities. Brookelove Hanlon brings a lifetime of expertise on the bass, Chris BD is just as comfortable playing a jazz club as he is in a Chopin competition, and vocalists Pigeon Valentine and Connor Laughland have perfected the dual arts of harmonizing together and tastefully coordinating outfits.
Abby Skye is a DC-based singer, songwriter, and artist known for her powerful and emotive voice. Singing since before they can remember, Abby knows music reaches us in ways nothing else can. She wants to make you think, or make you groove, or maybe even both. She switches genres almost as often as she switches hair colors, touching on everything from riffy R&B to queer pop rock. As they sing in their debut single, Lavender Lullaby, “I’m the horizon” - aspiring to create music that is both grounded in love and afloat with imagination.
