In 2025 the boundary between Americana and jazz is cracking wide open. Led by DC native and Towson University professor Jack Waugh’s project Americanaland marries guitar players like Julian Lage or ‘Danny Gatton’s fiery abilities’ (WPFW) with a swampy, modern jazz fusion twist . Live, the quartet unspools cinematic melodies that slip from train beats to outside harmonic exploration - and back -inside a single chorus. The debut EP has already lit up regional radio, and with an impressive following of over 30,000 followers and fans via social media (@jackwaughmusic) the project has hit the ground running. Jack Waugh’s Americanaland has a sound that encompasses Jazz, Rock, Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, Pop, and more. Through his unique compositions and spontaneous improvisations, Waugh strives to balance exploration of uncharted sonic territory with honest, uncompromised emotion. His recent release of his debut EP “Americanaland” marks this sound that fuses catchy melodies with the deep spiritual experience jazz listeners seek. For Waugh, his guitar and his voice makeup the bridge that connects and transports emotion to the audience.
Since forming in 2017, Austin Loman Group has repeatedly captivated audiences with their high-energy sound. After years of playing as a sideman, guitarist Austin Loman formed the ensemble to realize his original material. Combining the attitude of the great 1970’s fusion bands with modern textures, the unit’s sound spans the pastoral moods of ECM jazz through the polyrhythmic fireworks of progressive metal. Their unique live show has landed them opportunities to share the stage with the likes of Marbin, Attic Sessions, and Noah Pierre Band, while their 2021 album 'Infinite Square Well' received an honorable mention from 'Capitalbop’.
The Noah Pierre Band is a collective of musicians from all over the DMV. Embracing the traditions of jazz, soul, rock and other styles, the group recently released their EP, “You Live Here.” They had their EP release show at Keystone Korner on 9/26/24. They have toured the east coast as the backing band for MLLN, opening for Lawrence. They have also toured as the backing band for Jarrod Lawson. The band is compromised of Noah Pierre on guitar and vocals, Ricky Jefferson on keys, Oliver Unger on bass, Mike Paxton on saxophone and Jordon Stanley on drums.
